Fiat Chrysler Group, USA announced on July 28th, 2017, that two vehicles – the Jeep Grand Cherokee and RAM 1500 – have been approved for production and sale by the Environmental Protection Agency. Additionally, FCA Group has received a conditional executive order from the Air Resources Board (or ARB, for short) of California. This order allows the automaker to produce and sell 2017 RAM 1500s and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles containing a 3.0-liter diesel engine in the state of California, specifically.
The EPA and ARB have been working in tandem with FCA USA for several months in order to address previous concerns about diesel emissions control technologies on earlier model years off the RAM 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The fact that FCA USA has been given a stamp of approval for both vehicles is reflective of their continued desire to work with the needs and desires of both agencies on an ongoing basis. This is also great news for customers looking to purchase a diesel vehicle!
